Mizuno has long been a leader in lightweight, affordable running shoes. Through their proven wave technology, Mizuno has created an optimal running experience. The Wave Alchemy 12 has a lot to live up to when it comes to its predecessor, the Alchemy 11. For the avid fan, you will be happy to know it does its job well. From comfort to cushioning to support, this shoe is an exceptional product for both the serious runner and for those requiring a dependable walking shoe.
The comfort factor is a product of a well planned design and keeping in mind the needs of the wearer. With the Wave Alchemy 12, Mizuno created a lightweight shoe with an incredible amount of breathability. Feet tend to sweat with increased activity. When this happens, the feet swell, and it can become difficult to walk or run longer distances in heavy, constricting footwear. Wearing a lightweight shoe, like the Wave Alchemy 12, allows the feet to breath, creating a more comfortable fit and an overall enjoyable experience.
Running enthusiast know that it may take a while to wear in a new pair of shoes. Another great feature to the Wave Alchemy 12 is the highly durable, rubber sole coupled with the Dynamotion Fit technology. The special design of the sole limits the stress put on the feet, by cushioning them while running. The carbon rubber sole will wear down and shape to your foot faster than other models, allowing for a full capacity run within hours, rather than days.
Mizuno has manufactured this shoe using their patented Double Fan Wave Technology to create a more stable running shoe. Patented wave plates scatter the force of energy evenly throughout the shoe which creates the perfect heel to toe conversion. The midsoles are designed to be more flat, and the base of the shoe has been made wider to ensure an even, secure platform of support. Lightweight foam inside the heel also adds to a secure foundation while giving the wearer extra bounce when running on a hard surface. The one critique that past users seem to have about the past Wave Alchemy shoe is that the outer appearance is not visually appealing. The Wave Alchemy 12 now pops with an added hue of green along the top and the bottom sole that pleasingly attracts the eye.
This shoe offers a breathable, lightweight design that is also supportive. It doesn’t take long to wear in the shoe which is a great advantage for consistent runners who don’t want to wait for a shoe to form to their foot. The support of the Wave Alchemy 12 also makes it a good choice for those needing a stable walking shoe with a secure fit, such as consumers suffering from overpronation or injuries resulting from overpronation.
Runners with flat feet tend to overpronate when they run. This means that while the heel makes initial contact to the ground, the foot rolls in further than normal. Many consumers who bought the Wave Alchemy 12 running shoe expressed that if you have a foot that has overpronation, then this is the shoe you need. They love that it is lightweight but offers the support they require to avoid the foot pain they were experiencing after long runs.
Other reviews suggest that those who suffer from the intense pain of plantar fasciitis would benefit from the rear rigidness of this shoe. It provides the right amount of support to the feet and can be worn for an extended amount of time. Likewise, the support of the shoe is good for those who tend to be of a heavier weight because it will keep ankles and knees aligned. The foam padding helps to cushion the feet that may take extra pounding from the additional weight.
Experts recommend replacing your shoes every 300 to 400 miles. Many consumers were pleased that these running shoes did indeed last that long, even during runs on many different surfaces. They felt that there was not a breakdown of the shoe after prolonged use. It performed just as well at 300 miles, as it did at 100 miles.
There are very few complaints from consumers. Most are very happy with the shoe and have stated that the manufacturer claims regarding comfort, support and affordability were right on point. The one criticism that came up was that the Wave Alchemy 12 was designed slightly smaller in length and width than the previous Alchemy 11. For some this resulted in too tight of a fit.
The Wave Alchemy 12 designed by Mizuno is an attractive running shoe, at an affordable price, that offers sufficient support and comfort. This is a reliable, sturdy shoe that will hold up during long distance runs on various terrains. The lightweight construction will not weigh the foot down, and the breathability factor will allow air to escape to reduce swollen, sweaty feet. The heavy-duty cushion sole will take the impact of pounding on the pavement for a smooth and comfortably stride. The Wave Alchemy 12 is definately rated as a highly recommended product that stands behind its claims and offers an amazing running shoe.
Brooks is famous for their running shoes whether for long distance marathon training, short sprints, or just plain walking. Brooks knows what amateur and professional runners and walkers need in an athletic shoe, and Brooks maintains the integrity of their running shoes with ongoing technology for support, fit and pure comfort. The Women’s Ghost 8 Running Shoe combines all three of these aspects in its outstanding line of women’s running shoes.

The shoe works to help cushion the foot with its BioMoGo DNA structure that basically acts as a built-in cushioning base that conforms to the runner’s individual foot needs whether they are categorized as neutral, underpronated or high arches. Whatever the needs, the cushioning is tailor made to the individual, even during running activity.
In a neutral pronation capacity, which is the most standard and efficient type of pace, a usual heel strike is one in which a runner hits the ground on the lateral (outer side)of the heel. As a person shifts weight from the heel to the middle part of the foot (metatarsus),the foot rolls towards the middle and the weight is evenly distributed across that area. From there, the knee usually situates itself over the large toe area. Neutral pronation is the description of that process, and the Brooks Women’s Ghost 8 is designed to adapt itself to that kind of activity. As far as underpronation and higher arch needs, once again the MoGo integrated cushioning compensates and adapts to the underpronation (rolling outward), and medium or high arch issues.
Women of all ages and backgrounds would be interested in buying this athletic shoe because of its superior fabrication and technology driven features, which make involvement in any athletic endeavor worth their while.
Other women would purchase this shoe for the same reasons, but it would also be of interest to those with underpronating issues (foot rolling outward at the ankle), as well as for those who have medium to high arches and want to protect that part of their feet with the extra cushioning in this shoe.
The shoe would not be limited just to women involved in running, walking and other athletic activities, as professional and amateur athletes would most probably utilize these running shoes in various competitions, not just for everyday practice sessions.
Women would also buy this shoe to improve their cardiovascular and overall muscular health, knowing that this particular shoe would indirectly provide them with the benefits necessary for a healthy lifestyle.

Some working women would purposely use these Ghosts to switch off from their professional dress higher heels to a more comfortable shoe, so they could go to and from work in comfort.
Any woman would be thrilled to wear and languish in the comfort of this Ghost 8 shoe, whether running a marathon, running errands, or just running for the fun of it, and they would probably wear them until they were worn down to nothing, which is hard to do for a Brooks shoe.

Are your shoes wearing faster on the inner sole? Your flat feet may be causing overpronation and your shoes are making your condition worse.
Overpronation is when your ankle curves outward from your foot. This causes your foot to roll when it should push while walking or running. A great shoe takes your body’s needs into account and not only keeps you going but prevents further damage. As an overpronator, give your feet arches with the right shoe choice.
What to do? You can place arch supports in your current shoes if you have very mild pronation. If your pronation is visible to the naked eye, it has already progressed to mild or advanced and it is best to upgrade to a shoe designed specifically to balance you.
It can be difficult to find a shoe specifically for your pronation, so we have found the 10 best shoes for overpronation in 2016. Check out our reviews below.
You can do an at-home test to see the shape of your foot arch.
How wide is the middle of your footprint?
If are you have flat feet and you are suffering or will most likely suffer from overpronation. How do you properly support flat feet to prevent rolling?
You want to find the support that will prevent your foot’s natural desire to roll inward. A firm heel will keep your ankle in place.
Since your arch is so close to the ground, also look for a dense midsole. You want to alleviate as much shock and stress to your leg’s bones as possible. Without proper cushioning, the stress can affect your entire lower body and require more time to recover.
At the most basic level, you are looking for a dense midsole to protect your flat arch. The lack of an arch creates more available foot space to make contact with the ground. This contact causes stress on your feet, shins, knees, and joints. More advanced shoes include additional cushioning to increase your comfort level. We have listed the top ten best shoes for overpronation from advanced, multilevel cushioning systems to basic cushioning.
For the overpronator, you are looking to control your motion and correct your walking gait. You want your ankle to align well with your foot and fall in line with the circular motion your body creates while moving. Pay particular attention to the fit and support structures of your shoe. We have listed the most advanced support systems and snug fits for overpronators to basic needs below.
You need a good fit and support system for your overpronation, but will you wear them every day? Put the health of your feet first, but we also understand how lightweight a shoe is very important if you are on your feet all day. No one likes to feel weighed down by the end of the day.
Are they affordable? The question that is often the most important factor. With affordability in mind, we have listed the top ten best shoes for overpronation from most affordable to pairs you might need to save for.
Overpronators need stability. New Balance 990 series has delivered a cushioned, structured, and durable shoe for several decades. Offered in both a men’s and women’s versions, the shoe is a classic New Balance design with modern interior technologies to lighten the impact on the joints and overall pronation.
The New Balance 990 series features a reliable stability that improves your pronation with each stride on any surface. The extremely durable outer shoe is recommended to high-mileage runners, which means that the average person can expect the shoe to last. The outer sole is made of Ndurance rubber alternated with blown rubber. This combination makes the outer shoe durable. The outer shoe tread is made for roads and gravel, so it does not perform well on irregular terrain, however, it is extremely reliable in wet environments. Constant or excessive use of the shoe, however, wears down the interior of the shoe that can lead to wear and tear after a few months.
Podiatrists recommend the 990 series for its stiffness, arch support, and medial support for pronators. The midsole provides support and comfort in three parts. New Balance’s ABZORB foam runs the entire length of the shoe provide a sustaining cushioning for the feet and enhanced durability. Their ACTEVA single-density polyurethane in the mid-foot adds extra arch support. The rear foot cap houses an outside rim of polyurethane and ABZORB SBS technology to help with shock absorption.
The stability and thickness of the 990 series make it a stiffer shoe, which also means that it is heavier. The men’s version weighs 13.4 ounces and the women’s version is slightly lighter at 10 ounces. The upper part of the shoe is made with Nubuck leather for structural support and mesh for breathability. The construction of the upper shoe becomes stronger and more form fitting over time. The ankle is secured into the shoe with a dual-density collar, a traditional lacing system, and the padded tongue allows for a custom fit.
The New Balance 990 series is a great shoe for mild to moderate overpronation. The construction of the shoe is good to correct pronation, however, the 10mm heel to toe drop limits control over pronation.
The functionality, stability, and comfort make the New Balance 990 series a good buy for overpronators. The structural support that forms to the foot over time, while providing immediate support and comfort are good reasons to buy the shoe. However, if it is your only shoe then you can expect to replace them in three to six months and at its price level might be too much to bare.
New Balance is known for fitting wide feet and comfort and the 990 series is no different. Its deep heel is also beneficial for people that wear orthotics.
The ASICS GEL-Foundation shoe is made for people with severe overpronation. The support, comfort, and fit of the shoe are not compromised for performance. The GEL-Foundation 12 has several updates that improve the performance and stability of the shoe making it one of the best shoes for maximum support.
One of the updates is the use of Solyte Plus Midsole, which lightened the weight of the overall shoe. The new material does not change the firm support seen in the previous generations of the GEL-Foundation. An updated Guidance Line in the midsole improves the flexibility of the sole.
The upper shoe has also been updated to increase breathability and decrease the weight of the shoe. Open mesh covers the upper shoe also helps to fight bacteria and odor inside the shoe. The location of the ASICS logo is not on accident it also provides lateral and medial structure to the shoe.
The shoe is designed for support and stability with the DuoMax Support System. This makes the midsole very stable and supportive. Additional strength and support of the arch of the foot in the Gel-Foundation 12 is through the Trusstic System, which controls torsion. It is these two systems that make the shoe great for overpronators. The dual-density system of the DuoMax combined with the torsional rigidity by the thermoplastic in the mid-foot reduces overpronating.
ASICS Gel-Foundation also used the Personal Heel Fit, which is two layers of memory foam that mold to your heel to create a snug fit.
As seen on several ASICS shoes, the ASICS High Abrasion Resistance outsole is highly durable and provide a strong grip to road-type surfaces. The heel of the shoe is made out of ASICS High Abrasion Rubber , a carbon rubber, that protects the gel from damage. A blown High Abrasion Rubber in the forefoot, known as DuraSponge gives the shoe flexibility and responsive cushioning.
The Gel-Foundation is more stable than it is stiff, which means it is flexible, yet structured. While it might not be the most comfortable shoe on the market for overpronators it is built for people needing more control and help with pronation. It also helps that the shoe is made to form to your foot creating a custom, secure feel.
Top rated shoe for motion stability that is made for severe overpronators. Brooks’ DNA adaptive cushioning and HyrdoFlow Technology provide secure and firm support. The DNA Adaptive cushioning aids with pace and direction changes responding to your foot and heel strikes dispersing the impact and shock. The material is a highly viscous liquid that reacts like millions of molecular elastic springs. The Extended Progressive Diagonal Rollbar provides arch support, but also help with step transitions from the midfoot to the toe.
Brooks Addiction midsole contains a unique dampening technology called MoGo. It is a durable polymer structure that offers a more flexible experience. Additionally, the midsole has biodegradable properties, BioMoGo, that allows the shoe to decompose 50 times faster in the landfills making it the first fully biodegradable midsole.
The outer sole’s Ballistic Rock Shield is what separates this shoe from other shoes. The shield reduces the pressure felt when walking over natural terrains like rocks and sticks by spreading the impact across the foot area. Additionally, the High-Performance Rubber adds durability. This is also where the Diagonal Rollbar is housed, which increases the shoe’s stability and pronation control.
The midsole comfort is split between two technologies the Podular Technology from the forefoot to the midsole and the HydroFlow from the midsole to the heel area. Brook’s Podular Technology gives the forefoot flexibility and comfort, which the HyrdoFlow adds firm and secure cushioning.
The moisture-managing mesh is structured with synthetic overlays and suede that gives the wearer a snug, comfortable fit, and flexibility. The neutral base colors give a more traditional sneaker look to the shoe.
Saucony’s Hurricane 15s are made to provide ultimate cushioning, stability, and reduce inward motion while running.
The cushioning system is built with three layers to fully protect the foot from impact stress. The PowerGrid is a dense midsole cushion that covers from the heel to the ball of the foot. It acts as an arch support as well as relieves stress from affecting only the impact point.
The Super Rebound Compound Impact Zone redistributes heel shock throughout the shoe. Keeping the shock within the shoe prevents it from shooting into your ankle or knees, as well as the resulting pain many overpronators suffer from.
Hurricane 15s also have a distinct exterior heel and sole made of an injection blown rubber (IBR+) to complete the shoe’s cushioning system. The IBR+ outsole is the most visual overpronation support component and shows the proper structure for heel protection and arch support.
The Hurricane 15 running shoes’ upper is fabricated from mesh and the brand’s unique saddle to create a solid construction with breathability. The materials work together to provide stability while being flexible enough to comfortably run. You will have plenty of traction no matter the weather with the carbon rubber soles.
These are great for long runs outdoors if you are not sure what the weather will be like.
Nike’s Lunarglide series is specifically created for overpronated runners. The latest edition is the 6.
The Lunarglide 6s stabilize your ankles with a Lunarfoam cage. The foam is visible and takes up most of the heel for maximum cushion and absorption of shock and stress. The heel holds well and creates balance and a good fit for the foot.
Aside from the distinctive heel, the rest of the upper is created with seamless mesh to keep your feet cool and prevent sweating. With decent flexibility, the Lunarglide 6s grip well on concrete and cross training using their Pressure-Mapped Outsoles.
In addition to the motion control, overpronation is relieved with the dense and Dynamic Support system through the midsole. The bottom of the heel is also protected with an exterior crash pad. The extra cushioning gives the extra support needed to prevent stress on flat feet.
The ASICS Gel Fortify is a heavy-duty stability shoe designed for durability, protection, and comfort. The midsole has added support in their comfort layers and the outsole is designed for traction and durability.
The outsole of the shoe is made with DuraSponge and the heel is covered in Asics High Abrasion Rubber that increases durability on the areas prone to wear-out. The ASICS Gel Fortify performs best on hard and smooth terrains.
For over pronation, the midsole technology is very important. The ASICS Gel Fortify midsole contains FluidRide, which is designed to reduce the weight of the shoe while providing cushioning.
The Gel cushioning system in the midsole is Forefoot Gel Cushioning System and Rearfoot Gel Cushioning System the separation allows better motion control with each strike of the foot. Both systems are silicon-based, made for shock absorption, and add stability to the shoe to give the overpronator a more natural step.
The midsole is purposefully thick to give maximum motion control. This includes the medial post that runs from mid-foot to heel, the arch support system, and the Guidance Line that enhances your gait to allow for a more natural heel strike.
The upper of the shoe is also designed for increased stability. ASICS Heel Clutching System keeps your heel in the shoe by securely wrapping the heel. The upper also features Biomorphic Fit, which is a stretchable material that overlays on the medial side to add support.
The Brook Beast 12 features Omega Flex Grooves that improve midsole flexibility without compromising midsole integrity. On the forefoot of the outsole, there are strategically placed Flextra, a rubber that also increases flexibility.
The midsole has DRB Accel, a high-density thermoplastic polyurethane post that provides support for the medial arch in the mid-foot. This is what gives the shoe excellent pronation control from start to stop and provides a resistance of the shoe twisting, also known as, torsional rigidity.
Shock is absorbed in the midsole by Brooks’ Tuned Density Midsole cushioning system. Brook’s eco-friendly BioMoGo technology is also featured in the midsole. BioMoGo is a biodegradable durable polymer that adds shock absorption and allows the shoe to decompose 50 times faster in the landfill.
The outer sole features HPR Plus in the heel that helps with traction on wet surfaces. The forefoot has HPR Green, an Eco-friendly rubber that also improves traction in dry and wet conditions.
The ASICS GT 2000 3 is a newly redesigned version of the GT 2000 series to improve stability for moderate overpronators. The shoe is medium-sized in the toe box and width with a slightly more space in the heel.
The midsole design includes ASICS Gel foam technology for cushioning. The midsole also has ASICS Dynamic DuoMax that reduces overpronation by controlling foot movement. In combination with the Impact Guidance System, together they provide a smoother transition from heel to toe.
Like other ASICS shoes, the outer sole heel is made of ASICS High Abrasion Rubber to increase durability. The forefoot also features DuraSponge to increase flexibility while adding cushioning.
The upper is made of Reinforced Vamp, a seamless mesh overlay, that adds to the durability of the shoe. The heel is ASICS Personal Heel Fit, a dual-layer memory foam, for stability and custom fit.
The Adidas Adistar Boost ESM is specifically designed for overpronating runners who are training for a marathon. The stability, support, and motion control systems are at the core of the design with comfort and style coming after.
Overall, the Adistar Boost ESM is very flexible and gives a natural run. The forefoot and heel are both well cushioned with the forefoot a bit thinner than average.
The AdiWear traction on the heel works well on the road and pavement. Combined with the Zonemotion for added flexibility and rubber soles, the Adistar Boost ESM can handle running on wet roads.
The upper is made of breathable mesh that fits as snuggly as a sock. The most advanced section of the Adistar Boost ESM is the midsole. Made of pellets, the midsole is extremely dense and cushions a flat foot well and absorbs almost all of the shock created from each step. For stability and motion control, the midsole has a pro-moderator and prong shaped torsion system to promote balance and to lift the inside of the foot.
The Adistar Boost ESM doesn’t have the most advanced technologies on this list, but it does keep you stable very well.
This shoe is filled with innovation. The Newton Motion is built for people that need stability and support for mild to moderate overpronation.
The midsole has Newton’s Point of Power 1 Platform that has a 5-lug system. Each lug-system is filled with air chambers that aid with responsiveness. Their Action/Reaction Technology in the forefoot and heel help with shock absorption that also give you a bounce with each foot strike. For help with pronation, the midsole has Dual Density Posting and High Rebound EVA.
The outsole is a high-mileage durable made of Carbon Rubber Heel and the forefoot contains High-Density rubber to add more durability. Newton’s SHARCH, Super High Abrasion Rubber Compound Technology, helps with traction.
The Metatarsal Stretch Panels on the upper overlay guarantees a secure fit and improves comfort while decreasing irrigation.
Our favorite shoes for overpronation are Nike’s Lunarglide 6 running shoes. They will get you and your flat feet through training for a marathon to the farmers’ market in a smartly styled athleisure look. You can find a style that works for you with plenty of color options from classic neutrals, floral print, to 2016’s most popular look – color blocked neons.
Ultimately, what you will wear most often and is what is best for you. Buying a pair of the perfect overpronation shoes will do no good if they sit in the closet. Be open to getting a few pairs and testing what gives your ankles the best support.
If you still are not sure how much support you need, consult with your doctor or ask them for a podiatrist referral. There may be an underlying medical concern you need to address beyond the standard flat foot. Once your shoes begin wearing down evenly and you no longer wear down the interior faster, you are on the right track to protecting your overpronating feet.
